My Sports Page </tilte>

Welcome to my page dedicated to sports!!!

I grew up in a house that was dedicated to two things, the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. I have watched both the Braves and the Dawgs win and lose. I have seen these teams change over the years to become top pgrograms in the nation. I believe that the most critical thing for a team to have in order to do well is fans, and you can't have fans without a place to put them. Below is a table of the parks that I have been to. You can click on the links for more information about each stadium. At the bottom is my personal Top Ten and Bottom Five stadiums in the country.

http://www.ballparksofbaseball.com

I have only been to a few stadiums so far in my life, but I plan on visiting many more. every stadium in every sport is unique and has its own history. What follows is a very brief story behind each of the stadiums that I have visited and how I am connected to each of them. All of the pictures are links to more information about each stadium.

http://www.ballparksofbaseball.com

Atlanta Fulton County Stadium

It opened in 1966 as teh key to get the Braves to move down south. It held over 50,000 fans in a complete circle around the field. Famous moments include Hank Aaron's 715th homerun and the Braves winning the World Series in 1995, and I was there.

http://www.georgiadogs.com

Turner Field

My family couldn't afford to go to the Olympic games when they were here in Atlanta, but, we were able to get tickets to the Paralympics. This was my only time in the short lived life of Olympic Stadium before it was converted into a new home for the Atlanta Braves. I went to the first game there, an exhibition game between the Braves and the Yankees. The biggest moment for me was when I went to the Homerun Derby in 2000. It cost $50 for upperdeck seats, but was well worth it as I saw not only the first homerun hit into the second level in this stadium, but I also saw Sammy Sosa blast one 505 feet right over the hitters background, the longest homerun in the stadium's history.

http://www.ballparksofbaseball.com

Sanford Stadium

What can be said about this place that the greats like Munson and Dooley haven't already said. I was never able to go to a game as a kid, but since I have been here I have only missied one (Alabama-2003) because I was really sick. There is nothing like getting here early and standing next to those hedges for the Dawg Walk. My favorite moments include the payback to LSU, and of course, Odell's return against Auburn.

http://www.collegegridirons.com

Coors Field

This stadium was built to get the Rocky's out of Mile High Stadium, and it is by far one of the best stadiums in the country. I have been to two games here, although the first is far more memorable. I saw 12 homeruns hit in a single game in a high scoring contest between the Rocky's and the former Montreal Expos. Oh, and if you ever get a chance to visit this stadium, in the upper deck right behind home plate is the stand that sells the world famous Rocky Mountain Oysters.

Bobby Dodd Stadium

The oldest stadium in division 1 football and the reason that Sanford Stadium had to be built. Bobby Dodd is a unique stadium. It only holds 50,000 fans, so there isn't much of a home field advantage. The students are the more drunk than those at Sanford. I also notice that they have a habbit of stealing footballs when field goals are kicked. They are definately not the best fans in the county. They arrive late and leave early (a lot earlier than at Sanford) and you can see in the picture how much red was at the 2003 Georgia - Georgia Tech game.

Even though I have only been to five stadiums, I definately have my favorites. Below, are what I consider the top 10 stadiums in the country, with 1 being the best.
TOP TEN

Baker Bowl -This place had a wall that was larger than the Green Monster in Boston.
The Original Soldier Field -Great architecture and dedicated to those who served our country.
Minute Made Park -By far, the most unique park in all of baseball.
Atlanta Fulton County Stadium -The only place where a ballgame could get as loud as a college football game.
Lambeau Field -The only NFL stadium has fans that are more hardcore than those in college.
SBC Park -Where else can you catch homerun balls in a boat?
Coors Field -Offeres great views of the Rockies (mountains) and has the best bullpin in any park.
Wrigley Field -A historical park that provides the perfect baseball atmosphere.
PNC Park -The best views of any park in the country and the only new park to actually create the coziness of past parks. It is the modern Wrigley.
Sanford Stadium -May be a little biased, but a great stadium, with great fans, and a great view of west campus.

I also find it necessary to include a bottom five: My least favorite stadiums in the country
BOTTOM FIVE

Bobby Dodd Stadium -Clean, Old Fashioned Hate and it just isn't all that nice inside.
Tropicana Field -What were they thinking??? They converted a hockey arena into an indoor ballpark in Florida???
Olympic Stadium (Montreal) -It worked here in Atlanta, but 20 years earlier, Montreal flopped with converting their Olympic Stadium for baseball. A failed stadium is the only home for a failed team.
The New Soldier Field -They took a great, historical place and created a space ship, it is an insult.
Neyland Stadium -The world's largest Erector Set.

Here is a database that I have put together for college football.
